The impact of Google

The impact of Google

Read this article looking at the impact Google has had on the traditional newspaper business.

1) Why has Google led to the decline of the newspaper industry?

Because of its siphoning off billions in advertising revenue over the past decade, it uses its own search engines to convey the news to the public and this causes many people to view the news though Google based avenues.

2) Do you personally think Google is to blame for newspapers closing and journalists losing their jobs? Why?
Well I believe that Google is only making it easier for the public to access news and they have branched out with this idea that may not be innovative but is clever of them. On the other hand I do not think it is fair that they are profiting out of another companies man source of income, then again the world is a very unfair place.
3) Read the comments below the article. Pick one comment you agree with and one you disagree with and justify your opinions in detail.
'I think letting these wonder boys off the hook totally is as bad as blaming them wholly.'
I agree to this comment because its not to extreme or harsh on both parties and because compared to the rest of the comments it is heading to a solution rather than bitter and petty biased arguments. lol

Obviously, Google is not to blame. I don’t think it’s about blame. I think the Internet is incredibly poorly designed. Rather than being free, everything on it should cost something in order to compensate creators.

I agree to the first portion of the comment however strongly disagree to the second bit because information and knowledge should be free, as it is one of the ways views opinions and information is transferred, interpreted and generated. when a fee is put on this not many people will use the internet and this may very well effect the youth as they will begin to be less concerned about their world, which may be very dangerous for our communities.
